Noni Chaves

Noni Chaves enters her second season as an assistant coach for the Hope International softball program, specializing in outfield development and player mentorship.

Building on a distinguished collegiate playing career, Chaves brings both technical expertise and a faith-driven leadership approach to her coaching role. Chaves was a standout outfielder at Vanguard for four seasons (2021-24), which included selections to the All-GSAC and Gold Glove teams in each of her last three years.

Chaves finished her Vanguard career with a .322 average, 153 hits, 84 runs scored, 69 RBI and 23 stolen bases. A team captain for the Lions, she helped the 2023 and 2024 squads win back-to-back GSAC Tournament championships and qualify for the NAIA Tournament both years. In the Vanguard record book, Chaves ranks 14th in slugging percentage (.439), tied for 20th in hits and tied for fifth in doubles (37).

In her role at HIU, Chaves focuses on refining outfield techniques, improving defensive strategy, and fostering teamwork and communication among players. Her guidance has been instrumental in enhancing the team’s defensive performance.

Chaves embodies servant leadership rooted in her Christian faith. She actively mentors players in their spiritual growth and personal development, encouraging them to pursue excellence on the field while nurturing their character and faith. Her leadership helps build a supportive and faith-centered team culture.
