For Aimee Rosa the 2014 softball season will be her first as the Head Coach of the Hope International University Softball program. Coach Rosa is looking forward to helping the Royals fulfill their playing potential.
By joining the Hope International softball coaching staff as a volunteer assistant toward the end of the 2013 campaign, Coach Rosa starts her coaching tenure with some knowledge of the program.
Prior to taking over the HIU softball program, Coach Rosa guided the John Glenn High School softball program through a solid resurgence season. After a 2012 season of 4-14, the Eagles enjoyed their first .500 season in several years under the watchful eye of Coach Rosa. Two Eagles earned All-Suburban League honors while a Freshman pitcher received All-Area recognition.
While working at JGHS, she also started giving private hitting and catching lessons at VIP Batting Cages.
Along with her local coaching ties, Coach Rosa learned the ins and outs of eligibility while working as an intern in the Athletic Department of her alma mater Towson University in Maryland back in 2009.
Rosa made a name for herself in the collegiate ranks as a catcher and designated player for the NCAA Division I Towson Tigers. She concluded her four year career as the TU record holder in home runs with 31. Her 12 homers in 2008 still stands as the single season mark as well. Her 114 career RBIs held the top spot in a Towson softball career until two of her former teammates recently surpassed her career total standard. Over the last three years of her career, she played in all but two games played by the Towson Tigers.
As an alumna of California High School in Whittier, where she helped the Condors reach the CIF Finals on three different occasions, she is familiar with the plethora of softball talent in the Southern California area.
Educationally, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management from Towson University in May 2009. In the Fall, Coach Rosa will begin working on a Masters in Business Administration at Hope International University.
