Prior to Hope: Attended Fullerton College but did not compete on the baseball team.

Calvary Chapel HS: Competed on the varsity baseball team for two seasons … Threw 31 strikeouts and dealt 18 walks with a 2.29 ERA and a 5-3 record in 10 starts with 55 innings pitched … Help his team to a 19-9 record, two playoff appearances, and a runner-up finish in League play twice … Named First Team All-League and received the Coach’s Award … Named Scholar-Athlete all four years.
