HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – The Hope International beach volleyball team posted a pair of 4-1 victories against Life Pacific and Cal State LA to commence the 2026 season on Friday at the Brookhurst and PCH Courts.
The Royals won matches in both contests at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 positions in the lineup.
Bryce Swain and Sabrina Galassi had an impressive 21-11, 21-3 victory at No. 2 over Life Pacific's Eva Becerra and Jocelyn Hernandez. Swain and Galassi fought harder to down Cal State LA's Zuhal Cetin and Julianna Speiski, going extra points in the first set for the 22-20, 21-9 triumph.
Rita Nua and Cozette Zimmermann debuted at the No. 4 spot, earning a 21-17, 21-16 win against the Warrior tandem of Kendal Collins and Marlayina Masani. They also breezed to a 21-8, 21-15 victory against the Cal State LA duo of Seriah Demski and Anaiya Cooper.
The Royals clinched the match victory at No. 5 against the Warriors, as Macy Thornburg and Phoebe Sebby glided to a 21-11, 21-7 triumph. Against the Golden Eagles, the winning HIU duo was No. 3 pair Carmelina Infante and Maci Hendry, who upended Avalon Heintz and Havannah Vogel by a 21-9, 21-14 score.
The Royals return to competition next Friday, February 13 against La Sierra at 10:00 a.m. Matches will be played at the Brookhurst and PCH Courts in Huntington Beach.
