Haynes, Fisher Tabbed GSAC Players of the Week

The Great Southwest Athletic Conference named Hope International men's basketball standouts Aman Haynes and CJ Fisher as the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for their performances in wins over Florida Memorial and Life Pacific.

Haynes, a 6-5 forward, averaged 19.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 59.1 (13 of 22) percent from the floor and 83.3 (10 of 12) percent from the free throw line. In a 77-76 OT victory over Florida Memorial, he posted 17 points on 6 of 10 shooting to go along with eight rebounds, an assist and a steal. He helped the Royals improve to 3-0 in the GSAC with Saturday's 87-83 triumph over Life Pacific. He scored 21 points – his fifth 20-point effort this season – shooting 7 of 12 overall. He added six rebounds. Haynes hit a big three-pointer with three minutes to play to give HIU a four-point lead. The Long Beach native has now scored in double figures for 14 straight games.

Fisher, a 6-7 guard, was a pest on the defensive end in helping No. 13 Hope International to the two wins. He notched two steals, four blocked shots and 10 rebounds (5 defensive) in the OT victory over the Lions. The four blocks tied a career-high, and his swat of Jeffery Selden's game-winning attempt with two seconds left iced the victory. Fisher finished the game with his first career double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. In the win over the Warriors, Fisher collected three steals and one block to go along with three rebounds (2 defensive). He averaged 11.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.5 blocks per game for the week while shooting 46.7 (7 of 15) percent from the field and 85.7 (6 of 7) percent from the charity stripe.

The Royals return to action on Tuesday with a home game against The Master's.
