SAN DIMAS, Calif. – Amira Austin had a game-high 22 points and Aliyah Gonzalez added 21 as Hope International women's basketball extended its program record winning streak to 14 games, upending Life Pacific 72-66 on Thursday at Mehl Court.

HIU is now 17-3 overall and remains undefeated in the Great Southwest Athletic Conference at 10-0.

The Royals outscored the Warriors 23-13 in the third quarter to build a nine-point lead entering the final period, shooting 60 (9 of 15) percent with Gonzalez scoring 12. Conversely, the Warriors shot just 15.8 (3 of 19) percent in the third quarter.

HIU held off a late rally by Life Pacific with accurate free throw shooting in the fourth quarter, making 11 of 14 at the stripe.

Austin's 22 points came on 9 of 14 shooting. She added nine rebounds and a pair of blocks. Gonzalez was 8 of 11 from the field and 4 of 6 from three-point range, while adding two blocks of her own.

After trailing 32-31 at halftime, Gonzalez scored 10 straight points  – including two triples – as the Royals built a 47-39 lead. Javier hit a three to open up a 50-41 HIU lead and made a layup with 1:04 remaining as the Royals ended the third up 54-45.

Gonzalez hit 1 of 2 free throws to begin the fourth as HIU led by double digits, but the Warriors scored six straight to cut the deficit to four.

Austin dropped in back-to-back layups, but Life Pacific (11-11, 2-8 GSAC) got a three-pointer from Faith Harris and a bucket by Sophia Abella to trim the gap to 59-56 with six minutes remaining.

The Royals tightened their defensive grip and held the Warriors scoreless for the next three and a half minutes. HIU missed three field goal attempts over the same span, but extended their lead to 63-56 after Natalie Acuna and Austin both hit a pair of free throws.

Chuang hit perhaps the biggest shot of the game, draining a triple with 1:10 to go that cushioned the Royals with a 66-58 lead.

HIU made 6 of 8 from the foul line over the final minute to keep the Warriors at bay.

In the first quarter, the Royals knocked down four consecutive shots – including back-to-back threes from Gonzalez – to create a 17-9 advantage. The Warriors ended the period with Adrianna Torres and Abella sinking threes and closing the gap to 21-15.
