Lewiston, ID - The No. 4 Hope International University baseball team's (48-10) streak of elimination game wins in playoff games came to an end at ten as they fell 14-4 to the No. 1 Louisiana State University Shreveport Pilots in an elimination game at the Avista NAIA World Series at Harris Field in Lewiston, ID on Thursday afternoon.

Josh Landry (11-2) took the loss pitching 2 2/3 innings allowing seven runs on six hits while walking two and striking out two. Kyle Harvey led the Royals offense going 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs.

The Pilots struck first as they took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second. The Pilots then put up a big number in the top of the third as they took a 7-1 lead. The Pilots still had two on with two out but Chandler DeJong then got out of the inning with a flyout. Tyler Tilton then came in from the bullpen and was a bright spot holding the Pilots off the board for three innings.

The Royals then got back into the game in the top of the sixth as Amari Bartee ripped a one out RBI single up the middle to bring the Royals within 7-2. The Royals would then load the bases for Kyle Harvey who ripped a clutch two out RBI single to centerfield to bring the Royals within 7-4. The Pilots would answer back with four runs in the top of the seventh and one in the top of eighth to extend their lead to 12-4.

The Royals tried to find an answer but were unable to do so as they fell to the undefeated top seeded Pilots ending their bid for back to back Avista NAIA World Series Championships. Trotter Boston was a bright spot for the Royals throughout the tournament batting .615 with one home run and 9 RBIs.
