Oklahoma City, OK: This past weekend the College Stunt Coaches Association (CSCA) awarded the year end Athletes of the year in each division. HIU took home each of the specialty awards for the NAIA division for the first time in program history.
Athlete of the Year was awarded to senior
Kamea Binnquist. A powerhouse athlete that shines each time she takes the mat. Kamea is an all around athlete and her favorite routine was partner stunt 7- without a doubt one of the best in the sport. Kamea excels on our leadership team, in the classroom and in her faith.
Tumbling Specialist of the Year was awarded to Freshman
Grace Brassfield. Grace is known for her flawless Roundoff backhandspring full with precise landings. She acquired her 2 backhandsprings to full this year as well. Grace was a fixture in most tumbling routines. Grace helps lead the team in her faith and academics as well.
The Stunting Specialist of the Year was awarded to senior
Kaitlyn Kelly. Kat was a fixture in nearly every level of partner stunts and pyramids this year. She was a side base and also a mid layer flyer. Kat is also a 4.0 student and excels in her faith.
The awards were voted on by all head coaches in the sport of STUNT at all Universities based off of several nominations from schools in each division. HIU won their first national championship this year and finished the season in a program record 31-1.
