FULLERTON – Freshman Aman Haynes scored 20 points off the bench and the Hope International men's basketball team shot 61.5 percent overall in a 98-46 victory over Bethesda on Friday at Darling Pavilion.
CJ Fisher added 16 points, Nick Hopkins 14 and Cade Potter 12 as the Royals defeated the Lion Angels for the second time in as many weeks. HIU is now 3-0 on the season.
Allen Wright also contributed 11 points and five rebounds.
The Royals created their first double-digit lead at the 13:51 mark on Potter's three-pointer. Leading 18-8, HIU then embarked on a mammoth 30-2 run in which Bethesda was held to one bucket over an eight-minute stretch. Potter's dunk gave the Royals an insurmountable 48-10 lead with three and a half minutes to go in the first half.
HIU took a 57-13 lead into halftime.
The Royals outscored the Lion Angels by eight in the second half to cruise to the 52-point triumph.
HIU hits the road next week to participate in the Lithia – Oregon Tech Classic, taking on the host Owls on Friday, November 14 at 7:30 p.m.
