HIU kept it close in set two, battling through four early ties. La Sierra utilized a 5-0 run to take a 9-5 lead. But the Royals climbed back to within 11-10 on a Vianka Martinez service ace.

The Royals continued to trail by one at 20-19 when Sweetheart Salaveo registered a kill for a two point Golden Eagle lead. HIU tied the score at 21-21 following a La Sierra service error and attack error.

But three straight points by the home team got the Golden Eagles to set point, and Alisa Gavva found the floor for the 25-22 triumph.

Set three played out much like the first set, as La Sierra sprinted out to a 10-1 lead. HIU crept back within five at 16-11, but La Sierra tallied five of the next six points to comfortably pull away. La Sierra hit just .238 in set three, but HIU managed just .095 efficiency in the 25-16 decision.

HIU's season finale takes place against Life Pacific on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Darling Pavilion. The Royals will honor Lauren Cummings, Annie Nugent, Savannah Salter, Kat Schwab, Madison Schweitzer and Isabel Villavicencio on Senior Day.
