Sundstrom Brace Leads Royals to 4-1 Win Over Golden Eagles

Riverside, CA – The No. 19 Hope International women's soccer team (3-1) won their second game in a row as they look down the La Sierra University Golden Eagles 4-1 on Monday evening on the road in Riverside, CA.

The Royals came out on the attack and quickly opened the scoring as Christiane Sundstrom scored her fourth goal of the season off rebound from Jordan Galvin to put the Royals up 1-0 just two minutes into the match. Four minutes later the Royals had the ball in the net again as Sundstrom set up Indi Stum for her first career goal in the sixth minute to double the Royals lead at 2-0. The Royals continued to dominate possession and broke through again in the 37th minute as Ryley Candelario blasted in her second goal of the season to make it 3-0. The Golden Eagles would answer just a minute later to pull within 3-1 at halftime.

The Royals continued to push for more to start the second half and it didn't take long as Candelario set up Sundstrom for her second of the game and fifth of the season in the 54th minute to increase the Royals lead to 4-1. The Golden Eagles looked for a response but goalie Brittany Hazelton who had come in for the second half came up with two saves to deny them as the Royals went on to win 4-1. Haley Slouka played the first half while Hazelton played the entire second half with Slouka picking up her third win.

The Royals continue action on the road as they open up GSAC play on Wednesday, September 18 at 9:30 AM in La Verne, CA
