Galvin's Brace Powers Royals to 5-0 Shutout of Sea Beggars

Irvine, CA – The No. 19 Hope International women's soccer team (2-1) bounced back from last week's loss with a commanding 5-0 shutout over the Providence Christian College Sea Beggars on Friday evening at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA..

The Royals pressed forward from the whistle and it didn't take long for them to open the scoring as Christiane Sundstrom buried a penalty kick in the first minute to make it 1-0. The Sea Beggars tried to get back into the game as they had an opportunity to score on a breakaway just a few minutes later but they were unable to get a shot off as the Royals lead remained intact. The Royals then doubled their lead in the 28th minute as Sundstrom whipped a great ball across the box for Jordan Galvin who buried it to make it 2-0. The Royals continued to dominate possession and got another goal just before the half as Frida Vizcarra laid it off to Kaile Aguilar who found Galvin at the back post for her second of the game in the 43rd minute to put the Royals up 3-0 at the half.

The Royals came out of the halftime break looking for more goals as they peppered the Sea Beggars net with shots. The Royals would then cash in again as Ryley Candelario played a beautiful give and go with Sundstrom who passed it back to her to put the Royals up 4-0 in the 49th minute. The Royals then scored again in the 54th minute as Kalia Lanoza found Keyla Fragoso for her first goal of the season to make it 5-0. The Royals then emptied their bench to give more players an opportunity but there would be no more goals as they secured a 5-0 shutout. Haley Slouka played the first half in goal and recorded one save while newcomer Victoria Ruiz played the second half and was never tested as the Royals goalies combined for the shutout.

The Royals continue action on the road as they travel to Riverside, CA to take on the La Sierra University Golden Eagles on Monday, September 16 at 5:00 PM.
