Arnone Drives in Three to Lead Royals to 7-2 Win Over Warriors

Fullerton, CA – The No. 20 Hope International University baseball team (14-9) took down the Westcliff University Warriors 7-2 on Saturday afternoon at home at Duane Winters Field in Fullerton, CA.

Trey Seeley (3-2) picked up his third win of the season allowing one run on six hits over 6 innings while striking out 10 and walking one. Alec Arnone led the Royals offense going 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

Seeley worked around a leadoff walk in the top of the first as he shutdown the Warriors but they would sneak across a run in the top of the second to take a 1-0 lead. The Royals fought back in the bottom of the third as David Rivera led things off with a double before coming around to score on an RBI groundout by JJ Cruz to tie the game 1-1. Arnone then ripped an RBI double to put the Royals up 2-1. Gunnar Magrann would then pinch run for Arnone and steal home to increase the Royals lead to 3-1.

Seeley would shutdown the Warriors from there along with Boom Ward and Aaron Orozco who came in from the bullpen while the Royals broke open the game in the bottom of the eighth as David Rivera launched a solo home run with one out to increase the Royals lead to 5-1. Later in the inning Arnone delivered a clutch two out two run single to increase the Royals lead to 7-1. Mario Tostado would pitch the top of the ninth and ran into trouble while allowing one run. Joshua Ross would then come in to get the final out as the Royals won 7-2.

The Royals continue action at home with a doubleheader against Bethesda on Saturday, March 16 beginning at 11:00 AM at Duane Winters Field in Fullerton, CA.
