Box Score Fullerton, CA- The Hope international University men's basketball team (5-1) delivered an impressive performance with a 90-45 point win over the Stanton University Elks Tuesday evening at the Darling Pavilion.
The Royals controlled the first half on both ends of the court, establishing an overwhelming early lead over the Elks.
Nick Hopkins opened up the scoring just 17 seconds into the game with a three-pointer followed by a layup to push the score to 6-0. following a made three pointer by the Elks,
Aaron Wadman and
Josh Hardiman contributed ot the offensive pressure with a made three pointer and layup in the paint bringing the Royals lead to 10-3 and forcing a timeout by the Elks. The Royals stretched the lead to 25-3 midway through the half, their defensive intensity kept the Elk's scoring attempts at bay. In the final minuets of the half
Jonah Felix and
Josiah Beckenhauer made a three pointer with just 1:17 left to cement the team's dominance. By halftime the Royals built a 49-14 advantage over the Elks.Â
The Elks struck first in the second half with an early jumper, but the Royals responded immediately.Â
Grant Sii knocked down a three pointer bringing the score to 52-16 with 19:17 left in the half.
Aaron Wadman also contributed five points to the Royals lead with a three pointer and two free throws following a shooting foul committed by the Elks. The Royals defense played a huge role in helping them maintain their advantage during the game. Hardiman recorded blocks on back-to-back plays limiting the Elk's scoring ability inside the paint. Late in the second half, free throws by
Braxton Williams and a three pointer by
Nathan Garnett with just 5 minuets to go helped to solidify the Royals 90-45 victory over the Elks.
Aaron Wadman led the Royals with 19 points and 7 rebounds while
Sebastian Castro led with 12 points and 5 rebounds.
The Royals continue their season on the road as they head to Eugene, OR to take on the Bushnell University Beacons on Friday, November 22nd at 6:00PM.
