Royals Unbeaten Run Comes to an End Against Mustangs

Santa Clarita, CA – The No. 19 Hope International women's soccer team's (14-2-1, 11-1-1 GSAC) unbeaten run came to an end as they fell 2-1 to the Master's University Mustangs on Thursday afternoon on the road in Santa Clarita, CA.

The Royals jumped on top right away as Indi Stum found Christiane Sundstrom who calmly finished for her Royals single season record 20th goal of the season to put the Royals up 1-0 in the 4th minute. That lead wouldn't last long though as the Mustangs rescinded with the equalizer just four minutes later to tie the game 1-1 in the 8th minute. From there both teams looked for the go ahead goal but neither were able to create any real opportunities as the game was tied 1-1 at halftime.

Both teams started the second half looking for the go ahead goal with the Mustangs generating the best opportunities. The Royals defense was able to hold them off the board for the first portion of the second half but eventually the Mustangs broke through to take a 2-1 lead in the 61st minute. The Royals didn't give up as they pushed for the equalizer but they were unable to score as chances by Kira Christenson and Emma Viayra were saved by the Mustangs goalie as the Royals fell 2-1. Haley Slouka played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded six saves.

The Royals wrap up GSAC regular season action at home as they host Embry-Riddle (AZ) on Saturday, November 2 at 4:00 PM at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA
