Candelario Leads Royals to GSAC Opening Rout of Warriors

Fullerton, CA – The Hope International women's soccer team's (6-2-1) got their GSAC regular season off to a great start as they dominated the Life Pacific Warriors 7-0 on Saturday evening at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA.

The Royals got off to a quick start as they created several early opportunities before Ryley Candelario finished off a bouncing ball in the box after a corner kick to put the Royals on top 1-0 in the 12th minute. The Royals then doubled their lead in the 29th minute as Olga Luna whipped the ball into Monique Cervantes to make it 2-0. Moments later the Royals made it 3-0 as Ashlyn Edwards scored on the counterattack. Candelario then scored again as Sarah Ralston found her off a through ball in the box to make it 4-0 at halftime.

The Royals made some halftime adjustments as Haley Slouka played the first 45 minutes in goal and recorded three saves before making way for Zaydee Solis who came up with a pair of saves right after halftime. The Royals then added to their lead in the 60th minute as Christiane Sundstrom stuck off a great free kick from Jordan Galvin to make it 5-0. Minutes later Ralston notched her second assist as she played a great ball over the top of the Warrior defense that Galvin finished for her first of the season to make it 6-0. The Royals would add one more from Lauren Lizarraga in the 87th minute as they won 7-0

The Royals will return to action at home on Tuesday, October 3 at 7:00 PM as they host Saint Katherine for a non conference clash at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA.
