Fullerton, CA – The Hope International women's volleyball team (6-11, 1-5 GSAC) won their first GSAC game of the season as they took down the OUAZ Spirit 3-1 on Friday night in the Darling Pavilion.

Trailing early the Royals then took control as they went on a 7-0 run with kills from Macie Powell, Ryann Gaglio, Cassidy Koffroth and Addie Mathias giving them a 9-4 lead. The Spirit would call a timeout but the Royals just kept their foot on the gas outscoring the Spirit 12-4 led by two kills each from Mathias and Kathryn Schwab to take a commanding 21-8 lead. Later on a kill by Mathias finished off the set 25-11 and gave the Royals a 1-0 lead. The Spirit fought back in the second set as they took an early 7-4 lead. The Royals answered with a 9-2 run led by two kills from Mathias to take a 13-9 lead. The Spirit took another timeout and this time it worked as they used a 10-0 run to take a 19-13 lead as they went on to win 25-20 and tie the game 1-1.

The Royals seized back control in the third set as they opened on a 13-2 run led by two kills from Koffroth. The Spirit rallied to get back in the game as they used a 12-3 to get within 21-17 but that's as close as they got as the Royals closed out the set with a kill from Powell to win 25-18 and take a 2-1 lead. The Royals continued their momentum into the fourth set as they opened on a 7-2 run led by two kills from Koffroth as they forced the Spirit into an early timeout.
