Sundstrom Helps Lead Royals to 4-1 Win Over Flames

Fullerton, CA – The Hope International women's soccer team's (5-2-1) returned to action with a 4-1 win over the Bethesda University of California Flames on Tuesday evening at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA..

The Royals controlled play from the start and found the opening goal in the 16th minute as Christiane Sundstrom fed a beautiful through ball to Grace Brown who finished to make it 1-0. The Royals then added to their lead in the 22nd minute as Jordan Galvin passed off to Sundstrom who struck for her first of the game to make it 2-0. Then right before the break the Royals got a third as Monique Cervantes crossed a lovely ball to Olga Luna who slipped past her defender and finished home to make it 3-0 at halftime.

The Flames had an early shot to start the second half but it was the Royals who scored again as Sundstrom scored from the penalty spot in the 51st minute to make it 4-0. The Flames answered in the 63rd minute to make it 4-1. The Royals continued to press forward for more goals which also allowed the Flames to get a few looks but that was all the scoring as the Royals won 4-1. Haley Slouka played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded two saves.

The Royals will return to action at home on Thursday, September 28 with another matchup against the Flames at 4:30 PM at OC Great Park Field 18 in Irvine, CA
