Royals Smash Three Home Runs In Big Win Over Mustangs

Santa Clarita, CA – The Hope International University baseball team (17-4, 7-2 GSAC) won their third game in a row as they took down The Master's University Mustangs 9-1 on Friday afternoon in Santa Clarita, CA.

Connor Martin (3-1) picked up the victory pitching 6 innings allowing just one run on two hits while walking three and striking out seven. Chase Hanson led the Royals offense going 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs including a home run.

The Royals jumped on top of the Mustangs in the top of the first. After a walk and a single started the inning Max Jung-Goldberg ripped a two run double to left to put the Royals ahead 2-0. Hanson then followed with a sac fly to make it 3-0. The Mustangs fought back as they answered with a run in the bottom of the third to make it 3-1.

The Royals quickly got back to work in the top of the fourth as Matthew Pinal delivered a sac fly after a single and a double started the inning to increase the Royals lead to 4-1. David Rivera then made it 5-1 leading off the top of the fifth as he crushed his team leading sixth home run of the season. The Royals offense continued to click in the next inning as Branden Chung-Ming launched his first home run of the season a two run shot to make it 7-1 in the sixth. The Royals weren't done as Hanson added a two run bomb in the ninth to stretch the Royals lead to 9-1.

Meanwhile the Royals pitchers continued to shutdown the Mustangs with Alexander Shadid, Bailey Roberson and Matthew Sagmit coming in from the bullpen and combining to allow no hits over three innings with Sagmit striking out the side to end the game as the Royals won 9-1.
