NCAA DIII Kingsmen To Much For Royals

Thousand Oaks, CA – The Hope International men's volleyball team (3-11) fell 3-0 to NCAA DIII opponent Cal Lutheran University Kingsmen on Saturday evening in Thousand Oaks.

The Royals got off to a good start in set one as they took an early 7-4 lead led by two kills from Brian Castro. The Kingsmen battled back to tie it 7-7 but the Royals used a 5-1 run to take a 12-8 lead off an ace from Vance Ishihara. The Kingsmen came right back on a 4-0 run to tie it but the Royals once again took a 14-12 advantage. That didn't last long though as the Kingsmen used a pair of 5-0 runs as they took control going on to take the set 25-17 and a 1-0 lead. The Royals took an early 5-3 lead in set two led by two kills from Coby Prowse but the Kingsmen answered on an 11-2 run to take control with a 14-7 lead. The Royals continued to fight but the Kingsmen finished off the set winning 25-15 and took a 2-0 lead. The Royals looked to stay alive in the third set as they took an early 4-3 lead but that didn't last long as the Kingsmen came back to take a 13-9 lead. The Royals didn't give up as they went on a 5-0 run led by a kill each from Prowse and Jalani Horn to retake a 14-13 lead. The Kingsmen though weren't interested in allowing a comeback as they used a 3-0 run to retake the lead before closing out the set 25-18 and 3-0. Prowse led the Royals with 9 kills
  
The Royals continue action at home as they host Westcliff on Tuesday, March 14 at 6:00 PM in the Darling Pavilion.
