Prowse Helps Royals End Four Game Slide With Win Over Firebirds

San Marcos, CA – The Hope International men's volleyball team (3-6) ended a four game slide with a come from behind 3-2 victory over the University of Saint Katherine Firebirds on Tuesday evening in San Marcos, CA.

Looking to end a four game losing streak the Royals got off to a good start as they took an early 7-5 led by two kills from Coby Prowse. The Firebirds answered well though as they went on a 4-0 run to take a 9-7 lead. The Royals though responded with a 3-0 run led by a service ace from Sam Resch as they took back the lead at 10-9. That wouldn't last long though as the Firebirds seized back control as they went on to take the first set 25-18. The Firebirds went up 3-1 to start the second set but the Royals came roaring back on a 6-0 run led by three kills from Prowse to take a 7-3 lead as they went on to lead 15-10 midway through the set. The Firebirds didn't go away easily as they cut it to 16-15. The Royals weren't about to fold as they closed out the set winning 25-19 and tying the game 1-1. 

The thirds set was as a battle as the teams went at it point for point until the Firebirds pulled away to an 18-13 lead. The Royals didn't give up easily as a kill by Brian Castro got them within 23-20 but the Firebirds close out the set 25-20 to take a 2-1 lead. The Royals came right back in the fourth set as they went on an 8-0 run led by some nice serving from RJ Raucho to take a 9-3 lead. The Firebirds would get within 14-11 but the Royals answered with a 7-1 run led by two kills from Prowse to take an 21-12 lead as they went on to take the fourth set 25-14 and tie the game 2-2. The Firebirds would take the early lead at 5-3 in the crucial fifth set but the Royals answered on a 4-0 run to take a 7-5 lead. The Firebirds got back to within 12-11 but the Prowse closed out the set with three kills as the Royals won 15-12 and took the game 3-2. Prowse led the way with 22 kills.
  
The Royals continue action at home with GSAC play as they take on No. 6 OUAZ on Friday, March 3 at 6:00 PM in the Darling Pavilion.
