Atherton, CA - The Hope International University men's basketball team (15-6, 6-4 GSAC) bounced back from Thursday's loss as they held on for a big 85-80 upset victory over the No. 24 Menlo College Oaks on Saturday afternoon in Atherton, CA.

The Royals came out with some hot shooting as they took an early 10-5 lead led by eight points from Rasheet Wilson including back to back threes. After an Oaks basket the Royals answered with a 14-2 run led by nine points from Sebastian Castro as they took a 24-9 lead with 12:47 to go. The Oaks battled back to get within 31-19 but once again the Royals continued to fire off offensively as a layup by Jalani Horn gave the Royals their largest lead at 44-23 with 3:07 remaining. The Oaks didn't give up as they closed the half on an 8-1 run as the Royals led 45-31 at halftime.

The No. 24 ranked Oaks wouldn't go down easily at home as they outscored the Royals 24-10 to start the half as they closed the Royals lead to 58-55 midway through the second half. The Royals quickly regrouped though and went on a 10-4 run over the next five minutes capped off by a big basket from Castro to extend their lead to 68-59. The Oaks didn't go away as they went on an 8-0 run to make it 68-67 with 5:04 remaining. Castro would quickly answer with a layup to make it 70-67 but the Oaks pulled it back to 74-72 with 2:59 left. Needing an answer Castro would step up big again for the Royals as he delivered a clutch three to make it 77-72 as the Royals went on to upset the Oaks 85-80.
