Horn Leads With 23 As Royals Storm Past Bulldogs 90-78

Chandler, AZ - The Hope International University men's basketball team (8-3) won their second game in a row at the Cactus Classic as they took down the Montana Western Bulldogs 90-78 on Sunday afternoon in Chandler, AZ.

The Bulldogs got off to a quick start as they opened game on an 8-3 run but the Royals fought back to tie it 13-13 on a layup by Jalani Horn with 14:09 remaining. The Bulldogs answered with an 8-0 run as they took a 21-13 lead midway through the first half. The Bulldogs continued to lead throughout the half but the Royals kept it close as they trailed 28-23 with 4:03 left. The Royals then flipped a switch and went on a 14-0 run led by seven points from Rasheet Wilson and finished off by Horn as they took a 37-28 lead just before halftime. The Bulldogs finally got some points in the remaining seconds as the Royals went into halftime up 37-30.

The Bulldogs started the second half strong as they got back within 39-35 but the Royals reasserted themselves with an 11-0 run led by seven points from Charles Neal as they extended their lead to 50-35 with 15:50 to go. The Royals continued to click on offense as a Wilson layup pushed their lead to the largest of the day at 65-41 with 12:10 left. The Bulldogs continued to fight but the Royals continued to answer any comeback attempt as they held a commanding 88-71 lead with 1:08 remaining. The Bulldogs would force a few late turnovers and convert with a couple baskets to narrow the score but the Royals closed out the game winning 90-78. Horn led the Royals with 23 points while Sebastian Castro finished with 22.
