Fullerton, CA – The Hope International women's volleyball team (6-19, 5-12 GSAC) ended a five game slide as they swept the San Diego Christian College Hawks 3-0 on senior night on Friday evening in the Darling Pavilion in Fullerton, CA
The Royals came out firing on all cylinders as they raced out to an early 16-6 lead led by five kills from
Cassidy Koffroth. The Royals continued to dominate set one as they used back-to-back 3-0 runs to take control as they went on to take the set 25-11 and a 1-0 lead. The Hawks didn't give up as they scored the first two points of the second set, but the Royals quickly responded as they went on a 7-0 run followed by a 5-0 led run by three kills from Savannah Salter to take a commanding 12-3 lead. The Royals continued to control play as they finished on a 13-3 run led by three more kills from Salter to take set two 24-6 and a 2-0 lead. The Hawks didn't stop fighting though as the third set started out close. Then with the set tied 5-5 the Royals went on a 9-3 run to take a 14-8 lead. The Hawks managed to get within 14-10, but the Royals answered on a 5-0 run to take a commanding 19-10 lead. After the teams exchanged points the Royals closed the game on a 4-0 run led by a big kills from
Carissa Wiles as they took the third set 25-14 and the game 3-0. Koffroth led the Royals with 8 kills while Salter added 7.
The Royals wrap up GSAC regular season play as they travel to Costa Mesa, CA on Saturday, November 5 to take on Vanguard at 7:00 PM at Orange Coast College.
