Marisa Edwards brings more than 26 years of experience in athletic training and sports medicine to her role as Head Athletic Trainer at Hope International University. Throughout her career, she has provided comprehensive medical care to athletes at the high school, junior college, NCAA Division I, and professional levels, earning a reputation for clinical excellence, compassionate care, and an unwavering commitment to student-athlete health and performance.Â
Prior to joining Hope International University, Edwards gained extensive experience with some of Southern California's most respected athletic programs and organizations, including the University of Southern California (USC), USC University Hospital, the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA, East Los Angeles College, Mt. San Antonio College, and Pasadena City College. She also dedicated 20 years to Cathedral High School, where she played an integral role in the health, safety, and development of countless student-athletes, many of whom advanced to collegiate and professional competition.Â
As Head Athletic Trainer, Edwards oversees the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries while collaborating closely with physicians, coaches, and performance staff to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care. She is committed to fostering an environment where student-athletes can safely perform at their highest level while prioritizing their long-term health and well-being.Â
Known for her compassionate approach and strong relationships with athletes, Edwards believes athletic training extends beyond injury management. She is passionate about mentoring student-athletes, promoting injury prevention, and supporting their physical, mental, and personal growth throughout their collegiate experience.Â
Edwards' extensive background across multiple levels of athletics, combined with her dedication to excellence and service, reflects her lifelong commitment to helping athletes succeed both in competition and beyond.
Outside of athletics, Edwards is a devoted wife and proud sports mom. She and her husband, Frank, are the proud parents of four sons—Frankie, Noa, Owen, and Titus—and are also proud grandparents to their granddaughter, Naomi. She enjoys traveling with her family to support her sons in their athletic pursuits and cherishes the opportunity to be part of each of their unique journeys. Whether on the sidelines, cheering from the stands, or in the training room, Edwards is passionate about encouraging young athletes to reach their full potential.
