Jeff Anderson enters his first season as the Hope International head men’s and women’s golf coach.
Anderson most recently served for eight seasons as the head coach at Vanguard, which competed in both the GSAC and PacWest Conference at both the NAIA and NCAA Division II levels, respectively. He led the Vanguard women to a GSAC title in its first season of competition in 2019, earning GSAC Coach of the Year accolades, and returned the program to the winner’s circle again in 2024. In 2019, Vanguard advanced to the NAIA National Championship, where the squad placed 30th.
The VU women finished no worse than third in Anderson’s five seasons navigating the GSAC landscape. In 2026, Anderson guided the Lion men to a fourth place finish, the highest in program history, at the PacWest Championships.
“Jeff Anderson is a proven builder of successful programs and adept at developing student-athletes academically and athletically, fostering a Christ-centered environment which produces individuals of high character,” said HIU Director of Athletics Chris Morrison. “He is familiar with building a successful culture through his ability to recruit and instruct, and HIU is thrilled to bring him aboard.
Anderson guided his teams to five top-three GSAC Tournament finishes during his tenure, improving team scoring averages by 4.5 strokes, and mentored 10 All-Conference standouts at Vanguard.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to be named the new Head Golf Coach at Hope International University,” said Anderson. “I am grateful to God for the opportunity to serve at a Christ-centered institution that is committed to developing students academically, athletically and spiritually. I look forward to building meaningful relationships with our student-athletes, pursuing excellence on the course, and helping them grow into leaders who reflect Christ in all that they do.”
Anderson’s teams also have flourished in the classroom, with the VU men accumulating four NAIA and GSAC Scholar-Athletes and one NAIA Scholar Team award for the 2022-23 season, while nine made the PacWest All-Academic Team last summer. The women tallied 20-plus individuals for academic honors during his tenure, including an NAIA Scholar Team in 2022-23.
The Yorba Linda native also has served in the professional golf world for over a decade, bringing years of experience to the HIU golf program. Locally, he has served as the Assistant Golf Professional at various top public and private clubs in the area, and he is a Level One PGA of America Class B-8 golf professional form the Southern California Section.
Anderson also has held the position of head golf coach at Pacifica Christian High School since 2014. He spent one season as the head coach for the Biola University men’s golf team.
