Scott Dement was promoted to Head Coach of the HIU women's soccer program in 2021 and looks to build on the success he had in the shortened 2020-21 season.
As the Interim Head Coach of the women's soccer program, Dement led the Royals to a 4-3-1 record in the shortened season and had three players named to the All-GSAC team. Since then Dement has guided the Royals to four straight winning seasons including to the GSAC Regular Season Championship in 2021 and a GSAC Regular Season and Tournament Championship in 2023. He also led the Royals to the NAIA final site in 2023 where they lost to eventual Champions Cumberlands in the quarterfinals.
Prior to being named the Interim Head Coach for the 2021-21 season. Dement spent the past five seasons as the assistant coach for the Royals. In those five years, Dement has helped lead the Royals to an overall record of 50-36-10 record and a 20-21-5 GSAC record. Dement also helped the Royals to their first-ever GSAC Tournament Championship in 2018 and a bid to the NAIA National Tournament. Dement also was on the Men’s Soccer staff for two years as an assistant coach and helped the team to a GSAC Tournament Championship appearance in 2017.Â
Coach Dement is also currently the head coach and program director for the girl’s soccer team at Canyon High School. Dement is going into his third year and has led the Comanches to a Crestview League Championship in 2019 and has posted a 26-10-5 overall record during his two seasons.  He previously was the head coach and program director for the girl's soccer team at Fullerton High school for four years (2012-2016). Â
In addition, Dement coached club soccer for the Fullerton Rangers for nine years. He continues to coach club at Legends FC West for the Boys 08 Flight 1 team and Girls 03 Flight 1 team.Â
During his collegiate career, Dement was a two-time First Team All-League Honoree at Victor Valley CC before transferring to Hope International for his final two seasons. He served as team captain at both of the schools he attended, while helping Victor Valley CC to their first conference championship in 31 years. Â
Dement has been married for 13 years to his wife Jennifer, who teaches Kindergarten. They are blessed with their daughter Hayden and son Gavin, and their two dogs Ranger and Legend. The Dement family attends Whittier Area Community Church (WACC).Â
