Flag Football Blanks La Sierra 35-0

REDDING, Calif. – Anahi Morales completed 22 of 37 passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns as the Hope International flag football team rolled to a 35-0 victory against GSAC opponent La Sierra on Friday.

Madison Powell was on the receiving end of three of those TD passes, finishing with seven receptions and 92 yards. Ja'Niya Haley hauled in five passes for 50 yards, and Ana Sedic caught a touchdown pass as well as the Royals improved to 9-2 overall and 6-0 in conference play.

After a scoreless first quarter, HIU erupted for 21 points in the second period. Morales connected with Sedic for a 17-yard score and Powell also connected for a 12-yard TD strike.

The Royals tacked on two additional touchdowns – one in the third and one in the fourth – for the final 35-0 score.

Jazmine Simental completed 5 of 7 passes with one touchdown as the backup quarterback.

Larissa Perez led the Royal defense with eight flag pulls and Powell added five.

HIU takes on Simpson in another GSAC contest on Saturday at noon.
