ASHLAND, Ore. – Hope International women's soccer began a six-match roadtrip with a 2-0 defeat to Southern Oregon on Thursday at Raider Stadium.
The Royals outshot the Raiders 15-13 with Shelby Kain leading the visitors with three. Southern Oregon had more shots on goal (7-4) and got scores from Frida Vargas and Abby McKean in the 33rd and 56th minutes, respectively.
HIU forced Raider goalkeeper Brittany Standley to make four saves.
The Royals split goalkeeping duties between Victoria Ruiz and Brittany Hazelton. Ruiz stopped four shots and Hazelton made one save.
HIU returns to action on Saturday at noon against Corban. The game will be played in Klamath Falls, Ore. on the Oregon Tech campus.
