MESA, Ariz. – Hope International women's soccer got goals from four different players in a 4-0 road shutout of Benedictine Mesa in GSAC action on Saturday.
Shelby Kain, Ana Pacheco, Frida Vizcarra and Kira Christenson contributed the goals as the Royals notched their fifth shutout victory, winning those games by a combined margin of 16-0.
HIU improved to 5-2-0 overall and 2-0 in the GSAC. The Redhawks fell to 2-7-0 and 0-4-0 in conference play.
Kain scored her team-high tying fourth goal – and her third in the last four games. Pacheco notched her second goal in the last three contests, while Vizcarra and Christenson tallied their first of the 2025 campaign.
The Royals started the scoring in the 10th minute as Jordan Galvin bent her corner kick to the far post, finding Kain for the perfectly placed header to the upper left corner and the 1-0 lead.
HIU struck for a second goal just over four minutes later as Pacheco received a pass inside the 18, took one touch, and delivered her shot over the outstretched hands of the Redhawk goalkeeper into the upper right corner.
The Royals outshot the Redhawks 16-5 in the first half.Â
Vizcarra added the third HIU goal at the 63:59 mark, scoring off of a pass from Payten McClain. Christenson was the beneficiary of a Madison Lopez pass, notching her goal in the 77th minute to complete the scoring.
The Royals finished the game with advantages in shots (28-10) and corner kicks (7-1).
Fifteen HIU players recorded at least one shot, led by four from Lopez.
Victoria Ruiz and Brittany Hazelton split goalkeeping duties, with Ruiz stopping one shot and Hazelton making three saves. Benedictine Mesa goalie Thea Draganova was busy during the match as she had eight saves.
HIU completes a six-match roadtrip on Wednesday, September 24 at Soka. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
