PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Freshmen Alexia Talbot and Kayla Pablo earned victories at the ERAU Mile High Open on Friday to highlight women's wrestling competition.
Competing in the 160 pound bracket, Talbot dropped her first contest to Utah Tech's Levi Burrell, losing 9-0 by tech fall.Â
Moving into the consolation bracket, Talbot took just 34 seconds to pin Elise Bushra of the Arizona Wrestling Club. She then faced Grand Canyon's Joelle Coyaso, who pinned Talbot at the 2:05 mark.
Pablo competed in the 124 pound bracket and earned a win by tech fall, 12-2, over OUAZ's Angelina Walker. She advanced to the next round and faced another OUAZ counterpart, but this time Cristelle Rodriguez prevailed in a 10-0 tech fall victory.
Nancy Ernstrom also participated in the 131 pound bracket and lost her match to Torotech Wrestling's Anette Gastelum, who won 10-0 by tech fall.
The Royals return to action on Saturday, December 13 in a pair of duals against Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) and Westcliff at Golden West College.
