A New Era Has Begun

Aliso Viejo, CA - The GSAC entered a new era today with a new look and a new name.  Established as the Golden State Athletic Conference in 1986, the league changed its name today to the Great Southwest Athletic Conference.  The change reflects the geography of the current membership as the league has moved to include all schools in the NAIA in the state of Arizona while keeping Southern California roots as well.  With the name change comes a new logo, retiring the previous logo that has been used since 2008.

Today also marks the official start for three schools joining the league for the 2024-25 season.  Benedictine University Mesa, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Park University, Gilbert join the GSAC to bring the league membership to eight schools.  Arizona Christian University, Hope International University, Life Pacific University, OUAZ and The Master's University remain league members.

Assuming new leadership roles are Dennis Tyner, President of OUAZ, who will serve as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the next two years.  Kevin Steele, Athletic Director at OUAZ, will serve as the Chair of the Administrative Committee comprised of the league's athletic directors.

Conference office leadership is also going through a slight transition as Lucas Armstrong leaves the office after eight years at the helm.  Armstrong has taken a role as the Athletic Director at Capo Valley Christian High School.  Armstrong's replacement will be named at a later time.
