San Marcos, CA - The Hope International women's soccer team (4-2) fell 1-0 to the Cal State San Marcos Cougars on Saturday evening in San Marcos, CA.
It was the Cougars who controlled the game from the beginning as they tallied off a number of early chances including drilling the post in the 29th minute, but goalie
Haley Slouka came up big with three saves to keep the Cougars off the board. Meanwhile the Royals were unable to create many scoring opportunities with their best chance coming right before halftime but they were unable to convert as it was all tied 0-0 at the break. Not much happened in the second half until the Cougars finally got on the board in the 64th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Slouka came up with another save to keep the Royals in the game but they were unable to do anything offensively as they fell 1-0. Slouka finished the game with 5 saves to lead the Royals.
The Royals continue their season at home as they take on Benedictine Mesa on Wednesday, September 7 at 1:00 PM
