Rocklin, CA - The Hope International women's soccer team (7-2-1, 1-0 GSAC) opened up GSAC play with a 3-1 victory over William Jessup on Thursday afternoon in Rocklin, CA
The Royals got on the board quickly in this one as they opened the scoring in the 4th minute as
Olga Luna played a ball off a cross to
Ryley Candelario who finished into the lower corner to put the Royals up 1-0. The Warriors fought back though and came up with the equalizer in the 24th minute as it was all level 1-1 at halftime. Coming out of the break the Warriors looked more energized, but it was the Royals who would retake the lead as
Sarah Ralston converted a penalty in the 57th minute to make it 2-1. The Royals would then add to their lead in the 62nd minute as Candelario stole the ball on a back pass and finished around the keeper to make it 3-1 for her second of the game. Goalkeeper
Haley Slouka and the Royals defense would then keep the Warriors off the board as the Royals won 3-1.
The Royals continue GSAC play on the road as they travel to Atherton, CA to take on Menlo College on Saturday, October 1 at 1:30 PM.
