Royals Finish Regular Season With Goalless Draw Against Lions

Irvine, CA – The Hope International women's soccer team (9-6-2, 3-4-1) earned their first draw in GSAC play as they tied Vanguard 0-0 on Saturday evening at OC Great Park Field 13 in Irvine, CA.

After the three Royals seniors were honored before the game.it started off with the Lions controlling most of the possession as they outshot the Royals 13-2. The Royals defense stood tall though led by goalie Haley Slouka who came up with five first half saves to keep the game scoreless going into halftime. The Royals then used that momentum as they started the second half with more of the ball and created several chances. The best chance came for the Royals in the 87th minute as Amanda Camacho drilled a shot from outside the box that the Lions keeper was just able to tip over the bar keeping the game scoreless. With not much time left in the game neither team were able to muster as many real chances as the game ended 0-0. Slouka led the Royals defense with 9 saves.

The Royals have earned the #6 seed and will hit the road for the GSAC playoffs as they travel up to Northern California to face Menlo College on Saturday, November 5 at 12:00 PM.
